The Town of Kiawah Island 2.0

Kiawah Island offers a remarkable blend of natural beauty and hospitality, making it an ideal destination for those seeking both adventure and luxury. The island boasts pristine maritime forests, expansive sand dunes, and vibrant marshlands, home to an array of wildlife including turtles, whitetail deer, and seabirds. To preserve this unique environment, visitors are encouraged to adhere to the following regulations.

Beach Regulations - Prohibited Items:

• Glass containers
• Plastic bags
• Plastic straws
• Styrofoam products
• Metal shovels (please fill in any holes before leaving the beach)
• Walking on the dunes
• Disturbing wildlife
• Wading or swimming in Capt. Sam’s Inlet (western end)
• Overnight storage of beach equipment (tents, chairs, etc.)
• Unleashed dogs in designated leash zones (pets are allowed on the beach year-round except in critical habitat areas; please refer to the map for specific regulations)

Additional Regulations:

• No open fires or fireworks
• Feeding, harassing, or approaching alligators is strictly prohibited
• A noise ordinance is in effect from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily
• No clothing or towels should be draped over deck railings
• No overnight parking on streets; driveways can accommodate no more than two vehicles
• Bicycles and beach gear must be stored in an enclosure
• No grills are allowed in multi-family units
• Dogs must be leashed at all times outside unless in an enclosed area; pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Refer to dog leash regulations for further details.

Compliance with these ordinances is enforced by Beach Patrol (843-518-2880) and Town Code Enforcement (848-768-9166), who are authorized to issue tickets and fines for violations.
